Analyze item-level metrics to reduce returns and improve product performance

Updated over 3 months ago

After clicking on a specific item in Product Analytics, you’ll be able to see metrics that are based on the product.

Metrics:

  • Returned

    • The number of times a specific item was returned.

  • Quantity sold

    • The number of times the selected item was purchased.

  • Return value

    • The total value of items that were returned.

  • Return rate

    • Percentage of returned items from the total number of items purchased.

Return rate = # of items returned / # of items purchased

  • Exchange rate

    • The percentage of items exchanged from the total items purchased.

Exchange rate = # of items exchanged / # of total items purchased

How this can enhance your business:

Drilling into item-level metrics in Product Analytics helps you pinpoint which products are performing well and which are driving returns or exchanges. By analyzing return and exchange rates alongside quantity sold and return value, you can identify patterns that signal issues with product quality, fit, or customer expectations. This insight allows you to take targeted action—like updating product descriptions, improving imagery, or reevaluating suppliers. Ultimately, it helps reduce return-related costs, boost customer satisfaction, and make smarter inventory and merchandising decisions.
